I am Taal Goldman (b. 1972), an artist and painter living and working at Kibbutz Yotvata in the Arava, Israel. I hold a degree in Practical Engineering in Industrial Design from Hadassah Academic College in Jerusalem (1999). My work explores ideas, memories and everyday experiences through figurative painting, which I use as a tool for visual research. I am interested in the human meaning within simple subjects, and in the relationship between place, memory, community and personal experience. My work is deeply influenced by the landscapes, nature and culture of the Arava and by kibbutz life. I work across a range of techniques and materials, including pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, printmaking and embroidery thread drawing. The exploration of materials is an integral part of my artistic research, allowing the physical qualities of each medium to participate in the meaning of the work. My work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, art fairs and biennials in Israel and abroad, and is held in private collections in Israel and internationally.
