Goache on Paper 13*18 cm The annual kite festival, a tradition of building and flying kites, is a competitive event held in many kibbutzim across Israel. It is a kind of secular, communal, and family-oriented ceremony that takes place once a year during the high holidays. Participants build kites and prepare for a joint kite flying event. The winners of the festival are those whose kite remains flying in the air the longest. In this kite series, I explore values of community, partnership, and the secular holiday tradition within the kibbutz.
